Dušan Borković switches to ETCC for Hungary

Dušan Borković will switch to the European Touring Car Cup (ETCC) from next weekend’s race at the Hungaroring onwards, following his withdrawal from the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).

Serbian Borković withdrew from the WTCC races in Morocco, citing problems with his seating position in the car, along with issues with the brakes and dampers and the recent death of his father in the build-up to the event.

Borković has now confirmed that he will compete in the ETCC from next weekend onwards, racing a SEAT León for the NIS Petrol Racing Team, continuing with his long-term supporter.

“Last year I got a once in a lifetime chance to move to the World Championship after only one year in ETCC,” said Borković. “I’ve learned a lot last year , improved and I showed it with a podium in Suzuka, Japan.

“The seating problem is still not solved and there were some issues with the car as well that didn’t seem they will improve for this year – at least not in time for my sponsors and fans to be satisfied with my season.

“I don’t think I am done with WTCC forever, just for now. I want to thank WTCC and my colleagues for all their support.

“I am glad that I am staying in the Eurosport / WTCC family with the ETCC in which I am continuing this season. It is a great opportunity for me to test more.

“I hope for great results and I want to thank my sponsors and the city of Pancevo for their support. It is an honour for me to represent my country, sponsors and my hometown and I will continue to do so.”
