Adam Morgan was encouraged by the pace of both Ciceley Motorsport-prepared Mercedes A-Class machines amid setup experimentation during the British Touring Car Championship’s only official pre-season test at Donington Park.
Morgan, who clocked a fastest time of 1:10.197, concluded the four-hour session fourth, some 0.202 seconds adrift of pacesetter Tom Ingram.
With the sister Mercedes of Aiden Moffat a solid sixth amid a number of varying testing programmes, Morgan believes the team have made significant progress into resolving previous issues, and that further work with the new compound of Dunlop SportMaxx tyre will pay dividends.
“To end up with two Mercedes’ inside the top six is always encouraging,” commented Morgan.
“We managed to diagnose and eradicate some of the issues that have cropped up in previous tests, and we continued to experiment with different set-ups and get used to the new tyres. Overall, I’m very happy.”
The opening three contests of the new BTCC season take place at Brands Hatch on the Indy configuration over the weekend of 1st-2nd April.
