Tim Zimmermann moves to Target Competition for 2017

Young German racer Tim Zimmermann will continue in the ADAC TCR Germany Series for the forthcoming 2017 season, having opted to make the switch from Liqui Moly Team Engstler to Target Competition.

The former single-seater driver made his début in tin-tops in the series last year, piloting a VW Golf GTi TCR over a difficult maiden campaign, which saw the Baden-Württenburg driver take three podiums at Sachsenring and Oschersleben.

Zimmermann will also be piloting one of the newly-acquired Audi RS3 LMS along with teammates Simon Larsson and Tom Lautenschlager, having finished eighth overall in 2016, behind Holland’s Bas Schouten.

“Last season certainly did not go as planned,” said the 20-year-old, who is hopeful of success with the current team champions.

“Three podiums have underlined my competitiveness, and I want to build on the new season and fight for the championship.”

Zimmermann is excited at the prospect of racing in a full campaign, with encouraging signs with the new Audi at his disposal.

“The first test results of the car are promising. The car makes a great impression and enriches the brands in the various TCR championships.

“I am looking forward to a new task that would not be possible without my partners and my family. I’d like to thank them for their great support.”
