Jackson pushing for more Motorbase wins

Motorbase Performance’s Mat Jackson is confident of ending the British Touring Car Championship season with another strong showing at Brands Hatch.

After missing the opening half of the season, Jackson heads to the Kent circuit having struck a rich vein of form in his Ford Focus, with both poles and a brace of race wins from the previous two meetings at Rockingham and Silverstone.

Praising the efforts of his team since its return to the championship at Snetterton, Jackson hoped the successes would inspire a title challenge for 2016.

“It feels like we’ve only just got going really and here we are already at the end,” he said. “We’ve had such mega results since we returned to the grid that you can’t help but wonder ‘what if’ but all of the hard work that’s gone into this season just pushes us further forward for next year’s campaign.”

Looking ahead to this weekend’s meeting, Jackson said it would not be his intention to influence the battle for the championship, but insisted more victories were his target.

“Brands should be another good circuit for the Focus,” he continued. “With the chassis improvements that have been made to the car this season I’d expect us to be right up there in qualifying again and we want to go out with a bang.

“We’re not there to interfere with anyone’s title but at the same time we’re not going to roll over. We’ll still be pushing for more wins. It should be a great final weekend.”
