Frédéric Vervisch admits balance issues not yet resolved

Even with a spell of good results for both ComToYou Racing drivers at Oschersleben, Frédéric Vervisch was unsure as to why both he and defending champion Stefano Comini were finding their cars to be very unsettled during qualifying, ending up 16th and 18th respectively.

“It seems like our pace was much better today than yesterday, and we both had the same type of issue,” admitted Vervisch to TouringCars.net after race two, having finished sixth.

“Not a clear answer yet, a bit oversteer, bit understeer, it’s the same for every car here. We can’t really explain why we were almost two seconds too slow.

“The issue is quite an important one as this weekend, we haven’t looked that good at that point, especially at Oschersleben, where it is difficult to overtake.

“Maybe a bit less, but in the same way, me and Stefano, we drive quite differently [laughs]. I know it’s not good to have this type of problem, as I know it is not quicker.

“So but anyway, its not easy to find the good balance, and its quite difficult, especially with the weight loss too.”

The 30-year-old also went on to explain that both he and Comini had an agreement regarding both races, in order to help the defending champion, because Vervisch has no opportunity to fight for the title.

“You have to push hard, and we both drove well, and were lucky. I’m happy for the team, and me and Stefano worked together in race two. I told him that if he was behind me, I would let him pass straight away. It makes sense, so I want to help the team as much as I can.”

Having made his début in TCR this year back at Spa, the Belgian has not really been expecting a lot of good results so far.

“It’s my first experience with front-wheel drive this year, which as at Spa in the free practice. And it really went quite good, and the BoP helped us a lot too on that particular track,” explained the ComToYou driver, who is currently 10th in the standings on 62 points.

“I’ve had really good weekends, much better than I have expected. I didn’t expect anything from racing here, but I have been disappointed these past two weekends. Had some not good results.”
