Dušan Borković ‘really mad’ after car failure leads to fifth straight retirement

GE-Force driver Dušan Borković was left ‘really mad’ after a fifth consecutive retirement in the TCR International Series in Germany, as the Serbian suffered a myriad of problems at the weekend.

Borković, who entered the weekend sixth overall in the drivers’ championship standings, just missed out on getting through to Q2 on Saturday, putting his Alfa Romeo in 14th on the grid for both races.

The Serbian had worked his way up to tenth in race one, before issues firstly with the car’s splitter, then the radiator and finally the power steering, caused Borković to retire in the pit lane.

Having avoided the pile-up at the start of race two, Borković was running in sixth position when a recurrence of the power steering issue again saw him retire and suffer yet another non-finish, leaving him 71 points adrift off the title battle.

“I am really mad,” said Borković. “I can’t believe that I have the same problem with the car in every race.

“I am very disappointed especially considering I could have scored good points in race two and returned to the 6th position in overall standings.

“I am confident that the team will do its best to fix the issue at hand. I want to thank everybody for the support, I did my best as always.”

Borković’s team-mate Davit Kajaia did not suffer the same issues at the weekend, but had his race two curtailed by a puncture, although he was able to re-join the field and finish in ninth position.
