Timo Glock looking forward to “great support” in Hungary

Out of the 18 drivers set to compete in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters this coming weekend, one in particular, BMW’s Timo Glock, is always one to enjoy the atmosphere at the Hungaroring.

“Budapest is always a highlight for me and I have always recorded good results there,” said the 35-year-old, who took his first podium at the Mogyoród-based track in 2008 for Toyota in Formula 1.

Glock is the best-placed of the Munich contingent after two race weekends, currently eighth in the standings, having started his 2017 campaign with a welcome podium in the first race of the year, finishing second at Hockenheim.

“I had a lot of fun at the Big Show Run on 1st May and I hope that we got plenty of fans looking forward to the DTM weekend,” stated the Team RMG driver.

“I really look forward to the Hungarian fans who come to the track every time I am here. They have always given me great support.”

Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt is very aware of what BMW need to do, in order to make their way back towards the thick of the title fight, and thinks that the new M4 DTM is a very capable machine.

“This is the first stop outside Germany this year. Although we have not managed to win any of the first few races of the season, we still feel the BMW M4 DTM is capable of winning,” he said, as BMW is currently languishing behind in the manufacturer’s standings by 113 points from Audi Sport.

“Our main focus is now on ensuring that we consistently exploit this potential, not only in qualifying but also in the races themselves, thus allowing us to achieve the kind of results we are after. That is our focus for the Budapest weekend.“
