Stewart Lines aiming for maiden Maximum podium push at Oulton

Stewart Lines is hopeful that Maximum Motorsport can continue their strong start to the British Touring Car Championship season in this weekend’s triple-header at Oulton Park.

The team, which has found a new lease of life in the addition of former MG and Power Maxed racer Josh Cook, scored it’s first points since joining the series in 2015 at Brands Hatch, with a best finish so far of fourth at Donington Park.

Thruxton marked the first weekend this season that Cook hasn’t registered a top-ten finish for the Midlands-based outfit.

Regardless, Cook currently sits as the highest-scoring Ford in the championship standings, three points ahead of Motorbase’s Mat Jackson.

“We’re going into Oulton with confidence, looking to reignite our campaign after a tricky outing at Thruxton,” explained Team Principal, Stewart Lines.

“The nature of the track will suit the Ford Focus well and I believe that we’ll be back scoring points and hopefully pushing towards a maiden podium for the team.

“We’re currently the highest placing Ford in the standings and I think that speaks volumes about the team.”

Lines admitted he was also relishing the team’s newfound ‘underdog’ status as Cook mixes with better-funded teams for a strong haul of points.

“Maximum is one of the smallest teams on the grid, with Josh behind the wheel we’ve been able to out perform some of the much larger teams from the off, and we’re relishing being the underdog,” he said.

“I look forward to seeing what we can achieve in the remainder of the season.”
