Rob Collard: WSR line-up ‘the strongest’ heading into new season

Rob Collard believes West Surrey Racing’s driver line-up holds the most potent threat heading into this year’s British Touring Car Championship, after the WSR stalwart was confirmed for a tenth campaign with the team alongside two-time champion Colin Turkington and 2013 series winner Andrew Jordan.

Jordan, who completed the switch to WSR from Motorbase after an Independents title-winning campaign in November, was joined by Turkington earlier this month [February] following his mutual split with Team BMR. Collard, who had been heavily linked to retain his WSR seat prior to today’s announcement [20th February], joins the team off the back of another successful campaign.

His two victories and further four podium finishes, along with four fastest laps and over 140 overtaking moves across the 2016 season helped WSR secure both the Teams and Manufacturers honours on Finals Day at Brands Hatch in October.

With Collard due to begin testing in Spain for a week starting on February 27th in the latest-spec WSR built and designed BMW 125i M Sport, the Hampshire-based driver believes he now sits in the most bespoke driver line-up in the pit lane ahead of the new season.

“With Colin and Andrew as my team-mates, I think we have the strongest line-up in the championship and I can’t wait to start testing the latest development of the BMW later this month.” he commented.
