Andrew Jordan keen to soak up BMW manufacturer experience

Andrew Jordan admitted his mentality has expanded towards enjoying the experience of being a manufacturer-backed driver in this year’s British Touring Car Championship after WSR announced their new Team BMW programme.

He was present at Park Lane in London along with his new team-mates, Colin Turkington and Rob Collard, to launch the outfits updated and newly-liveried BMW 125i M Sport as the German marque returned to the BTCC for the first time since 1996.

Jordan, who joined the team in November from Motorbase Performance, has previous experience of works’ outfits with MG.

The 2013 series champion admitted to TouringCars.net that the achievement of representing the brand at the highest national level sits high among his list of personal successes.

“We’re in a strong position, there’s no question about that in terms of team and car and now with the BMW manufacturer support – it’s a huge thing for me as a driver to be representing BMW as a manufacturer, it’s something I’m really proud of, but also something WSR should be proud of, they’ve been working with them for a long time and to now have this relationship, that’s something really cool,” commented Jordan.

“Also we’ve got the new engine coming, which is hopefully going to give us a bit where we might need it, but the car’s very good so we’re going to need to find little bits to hit the ground running at the start of the year, but I’m so at one and at ease with the team and with the work that’s going on.

“I feel a different person, because I know they’re going to do a great job.”

Whilst the Pirtek-backed driver remains hungry to add to his tally of overall championship wins, after securing his third Independents title last season, he admitted his focus had shifted slightly towards enjoying the experience of WSR’s new programme.

“It goes without saying, of course I want to win the championship, but my mentality has changed a bit, I just want to enjoy this experience and enjoy being part of this team, part of BMW and just take that all in, because I know when I’m having fun and relaxed I’m at my best, so that’s where I’m at,” admitted Jordan.

“Of course I’m going to want to win, but I just want to rock up at every race and enjoy that experience.”
