Mat’o Homola hit with post-race penalty after Pepe Oriola contact

B3 Racing’s Mat’o Homola was given a post-race 10-second penalty in the second TCR International Series race in Malaysia, following contact with Craft-Bamboo Racing’s Pepe Oriola on the final lap.

The duo twice made contact on the final lap of the race whilst battling for seventh position. The first contact caused Oriola to cut across the grass on the exit of Turn 12, before he rejoined in the path of Homola.

When the Slovakian racer dived up the inside into Turn 13, the duo again made contact, which pitched Oriola off into the gravel on the exit of Turn 14, and cost him any hopes of a points position.

The stewards adjudged Homola to have been at fault, and gave him a time penalty which dropped him to 16^th place – just the third time he has missed out on points in all of this year’s races.
