No Michela Cerruti in Thailand due to illness

Michela Cerruti will not take part in this weekend’s TCR International Series races in Thailand due to illness, with the Mulsanne Racing team down to just one Alfa Romeo Giulietta for Petr Fulín as a result.

After starting the season with the Italian team, Cerruti missed two events in May when car builder Romeo Ferraris focussed further on the development of the car.

Since returning in Austria, Cerruti has picked up two points finishes as the car has shown an upturn in form, particularly at the hands of Fulín.

Unfortunately for the Italian, she has developed renal colic ahead of the weekend and has had to cancel her trip to Buriram at the last minute.

Team Manager Claudio Bortoletto explained that the team will focus all of their efforts on the one car instead, having been unable to find a last-minute replacement driver.

“We are obviously very sorry because she couldn’t join us in Thailand, but the most important thing is that she gets better soon in light of the next races,” said Bortoletto. “We will focus on Petr Fulín’s car, hoping we can continue to make progress in the wake of the good results we achieved in Russia, where we scored points in qualifying and both races.

“It won’t be easy, because most of our competitors have the advantage of having raced here last year.”
