Adrien Tambay takes positives from improvement in Austria

After a difficult 2015 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) campaign, France’s Adrien Tambay was able to secure his first points finish of this season in the first race at the Red Bull Ring.

Having switched from Team Abt Sportsline to pair up with Jamie Green at Team Rosberg, the London-based Frenchman battled hard to finish eighth, beating his points tally from last year in a single race.

He admitted that qualifying third for the sprint race, where he took four points, were the particular high points at Spielberg, after he endured a difficult start to the season at Hockenheim.

“All in all it was largely a positive weekend for me,” said the 25-year-old, who felt that his efforts in the second race were wrongly unrewarded.

“Eleventh place and a car in one piece show that we are going in the right direction. Our qualifying pace also makes me optimistic.”

Tambay is looking forward to further gains to be made when the DTM heads to the Lausitzring in two weeks’ time, as he’ll also be looking to hit the podium this season, having already done so in his début season in 2012 and 2014.

“I’ve scored more points already than I did all last year, and because of this I’m already looking forward to the next race.”
