Leopard Racing’s Jean-Karl Vernay has been hit with a double penalty in the opening TCR International Series race at Imola, for both exceeding track limits and contact with B3 Racing’s Dušan Borković.
Vernay was involved in a controversial incident with the SEAT of Borković late in the race, which saw the Serbian driver spin out with just two laps to go.
The Frenchman was judged to be at fault for the incident, and hit with a 30-second penalty after the race.
He was then also given a 30-second penalty for having persistently exceeded the track limits throughout the race, dropping him out of the points altogether.
The penalties meant that Alessandra Neri took points for a tenth place finish, behind her team-mate at B.D. Racing, Carlotta Fedeli.
