Michael Epps confident of ‘strong weekend’ at Thruxton

Michael Epps believe he and Team.HARD head to third meeting of the 2016 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season at Thruxton in good shape, after the former VW Cup racer scored his first championship points last time out at Donington Park.

Epps, who joined Team. HARD to partner fellow rookie Chris Smiley and occasional entrant Jake Hill at the beginning of the new season, heads into the weekend placed joint 20th in the Drivers standings, equaling team-mate Hill and double champion Jason Plato on three points apiece.

Thruxton is a notoriously challenging venue, with the 2.4 mile Hampshire circuit necessitating a unique tyre compound from suppliers Dunlop, as the abrasive track surface leads to increased degradation.

Factor in fast corners such as Church and the tighter, more intricate ‘Complex’ section in sector one, along with the usual close action in the BTCC and it is set to be a challenging weekend for the Team. HARD trio, but one Epps enters in confident form.

“Between myself and my team-mate Jake Hill now, we’ve proven that these cars are quite quick and are capable of featuring inside the top ten.” he commented.

“We go to Thruxton with a car that we know is fast, and we’re confident of a strong weekend.”
