The Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) is entering the final phase of the 2015 season, but their is still a focus towards the future, as Mercedes AMG-DTM has revealed what the new C63 AMG will look like for next season.

The new car, which will be the sixth vehicle that the Stuttgart manufacturer will use in its continuing campaign in the DTM, is set for a winter test debut, after the season concludes in Hockenheim this coming October.

Work on developing the C63 began last year, as Mercedes is looking to continue its legendary run of success within the DTM.

“The new Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupé will again set new standards for driving dynamics and design. So, the vehicle provides the ideal basis for our DTM car,” explained Fritz.

“I’m already looking forward to seeing the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM compete in 2016. Our aim with this vehicle is, of course, to continue the Mercedes-Benz success story in the DTM.”

Fritz also explained that the striking new features for the 2016 Mercedes challenger will take the “unique, sporty design language” of the road-going C63 AMG, which he says makes the car stand out.

One driver that is looking forward to seeing how the new car performs is 2005 champion, Gary Paffett, who also said that the C63 AMG “looks really good”

“Obviously, many parts are similar to those on the current car, but the new shape is really cool and simply shows that the Mercedes-Benz and AMG road versions are getting better and more beautiful with every stage in their evolution,” said the Briton, who has raced in the series since 2003.

Paffett has also raced four of the new car’s predecessors, which includes the current variation of the C63 AMG.

“I’m already looking forward to climbing into the new car. Hopefully, we can fight for lots of wins and maybe even win the title with it.”
