Dušan Borković revises statement; will drive in Hungary

Serbian World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) driver Dušan Borković has clarified the earlier reports that he was withdrawing from the remainder of the season by insisting he will drive in the forthcoming event in Hungary.

Borković’s management had originally released a statement saying that the Proteam Racing driver had pulled out of the rest of the season. However it now appears that Borković will drive at the Hungaroring, just not at the wheel of a Honda Civic for Proteam Racing.

The issue stems not only from the fact that the 2.07 m racer (6ft 9 in) struggles to fit comfortably in the car, but also relates to the specification of certain parts on his car, with Borković highlighting that he is not receiving the latest-spec brakes and dampers.

Having raced for Campos Racing in his maiden WTCC season, early signs are that Borković could line up on the grid at the wheel of the team’s third Chevrolet Cruze TC1, which was damaged by Hugo Valente during testing at Paul Ricard in February.

Alternatively, Borković may opt to race in the WTCC-supporting European Touring Car Cup, which he raced in prior to 2012. The ETCC is supporting the WTCC in Hungary.

More information will be revealed at a press conference on Friday.
