LADA announces Vesta concept unveiling

LADA will unveil a concept version of its 2015 World Touring Car Championship challenger, the Vesta, at the forthcoming Moscow International Motor Show between the 27th August and the 7th September, the Russian marque has announced.

LADA have fielded the Granta (pictured above) for the past two seasons, building variants of the car in both the older S2000 specification and for the new TC1 S2000 regulations.

Now the marque will reveal the first glimpse of its all-new car for 2015, with the Vesta (pictured below) set to replace the Priora in the manufacturer’s range.

The car will be based on a new LADA B platform and will feature a new design direction, inheriting style cues from the LADA XRAY concept car unveiled at the 2012 Moscow Motor Show.

LADA have been known to have struggled to get their current car, the Granta, down to the minimum WTCC weight limit, effectively running with an additional penalty throughout the 2014 season.

LADA President Bo Andersson reaffirmed the brand’s commitment to racing by making the announcement.

“Racing is the right approach for LADA,” said the Swede in an interview with the Russian ITAR-TASS news agency. “We have a lot of fans and people who support this programme, so the company’s involvement in motorsport is important and we need to win.

“The visitors of the Moscow Motor Show will have a chance to see the new LADA Vesta racecar that has been designed for competition in the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).”
